To clear up possible confusion, it doesn't mean that your Vista installation will have the look and feel of Windows XP, it will have Vista's look, but without the little niceties, which are negligible if functionality and security matter over appearance.Īs for audio, network adapters, chipset and any other drivers, the ones included with Vista are sufficient to have them working to your expectations.
In other words, you'll be able to install XP graphics drivers on Vista, but certain graphics enhancements (for example, Aero) won't be available because the graphics drivers will be running in XP mode and will only provide interfaces available in Windows XP. While WDDM offers you enhanced 3D graphics interfaces on post-XP systems, you'll only have XP-style graphics when using XPDM-mode drivers. Luckily, Vista supports two driver modes, XPDM and WDDM.
